Gene Krupa

Gene Krupa was born in Chicago, Illinois on January 15, 1909 was the youngest of nine children of Bartley and Ann Krupa. His father died when Gene was very young, so his mother had worked as a milliner to support her family life. Gene had to work at the age of 11 years, because all his brothers also started work on their age who are still very young. Pete, the brother of Gene, worked at "Brown Music Company", and get him a job there as a janitor. Gene started playing saxophone in his school, but later switched to drums at age 11, because the drum is the cheapest instrument in the music store where she worked at that time. "I used to see the whole catalog sales of musical instruments, be it piano, trombone, trumpet-I really do not care, as long as it is a musical instrument. The most expensive tool when it is the drum. If not mistaken, the drum was a Japanese drum sets; high, big bass drums, with a brass cymbal on it, a wood block and a snare. "Gene explains.
Gene Krupa will always be remembered as the drummer who makes drums as a solo instrument. He also showed leadership qualities that are not easily equaled by any musician. Buddy Rich once said that  Gene is the beginning and the end of the whole jazz. Louie Bellson said of Gene, "He was a good person, extraordinary and a great drummer. He led the drum to the surface, and he will always be remembered.
