Tre Cool

Tre Cool (Frank Edwin Wright III); born on December 9, 1972, is a German-born American drummer, and one of the personnel of the punk rock band Green Day. He replaces former Green Day drummer, John Kiffmeyer in 1990. Frank Edwin Wright III was born in Frankfurt, Germany. He lives in Willits, California with his father and older sister, Lori. His father, a helicopter pilot in the Vietnam War, decided to move his family there to protect them upon his return to the United States.

Frank nearest neighbor at that time, Larry Livermore, is a singer of punk band The Lookouts. Larry recruited him to join The Lookouts, and gave him the name of Tre Cool who refers to the two French words Tres (meaning very), combined with the word cool (meaning cool). However, the letter "S" is not included in the spelling, as a play on the "III"in his full name.

When Green Day's drummer, John Kiffmeyer, left the band, they recruited Tre to play drums. Tre decided to drop out of high school in his sophomore year. Instead, he passed the test of equality and earned his GED, and started taking community college classes. But he had to drop out of college, when demand for Green Day's touring schedule intensified.

Tre once known as the drummer who likes to burn the drum on the stage (something that should be regrettable), after completing each concert. He also has a tradition, if he destroyed a cymbal during the concert, he gave it to the audience at the end of the concert.
